When it comes to networking or community building, I try to seek out and maintain relationships with various people. Different opportunities can present themselves that I might not have otherwise known by doing this.  I also interact with others from different backgrounds and offer different perspectives that I might not have seen.

What is means to me…

Building community is essential to me because I want to expand my knowledge plus meet people from all walks of life. Networking takes a lot of communication, and it can help build confidence along the way. Usually friendly with everyone, I am always talking with and connecting with people.

Going forward…

Having the ability to walk up to anyone and start a conversation can help me connect with my career-orientated goals. Sometimes, talking to the right person can open up doors that might not have been previously there. Not only can this help me find a career, but it can also keep my perspectives up to date.

A relationship I’ve made and would like to maintain is…

My relationship with Dr. Whitteck! When I first encountered her class, the last thing I had in mind was bonding, forming, and wanting to maintain a relationship with my Professor. However, over these past 16 weeks, I have grown fond of her class and her methodology for helping students and faculty grow into the best they can be. Dr. Whitteck has become invaluable, always happy to assist with any problems that might come up, big or small. She has helped me broaden my viewpoints even further, and I look forward to continuing that relationship next semester. I applied and got offered a position to work with Dr. Whitteck as a student partner next year, which I am excited about. I look forward to not only strengthening my relationship with her but also allowing the opportunity to open other community building with my peers and other faculty members.
